About Tailored Therapy
"I believe that every person is unique - as is the life they have and the issues that bring them to seek help through counselling. Because of this, the work we do together will be as unique as you are and ‘tailored’ to fit you. I can offer you a confidential, comfortable, safe and positive space to work through your issues". - Alison Taylor. Dip. Counselling - MBACP - PNCPS (Prof (Acc.) Advanced Practitioner Working with Children and Young People. (NCS Quality Assured Training). |
My name is Alison Taylor, I am a Professionally Accredited member of the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) and a Registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).
As required by my Registering bodies, I am fully insured, Enhanced DBS checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service and registered with the Information Commissioners Office.
My background is based on the foundation of a 25 year long Career working as a Qualified Youth Worker/Youth Centre Manager for Essex County Council’s Youth Service. This served as my introduction to Counselling, where, whilst interacting and building relationships with both families and individuals, I was inspired to train and further develop the skills required to go on to gain the qualifications that now enable me to work purely as a successful Counsellor/therapist.
I am fundamentally a Person-Centred therapist. I have trained in Individual Therapy (all age ranges) as well as Couples Therapy. I am also an Advanced Practitioner Working with Children and Young People, both in schools and in private practice.
After thousands of hours, working with a wide range of clients, I have gone on to train in other modalities and specialisms. This ensures that the work I do with clients is current, relevant, and best suited to their specific needs, integrating other appropriate modalities such as CBT, Emotionally Focussed Therapy and more, whilst also including an element of psychoeducation.
Our work together will always be ‘tailored’ to my client’s needs and will be as unique as they are.
This enables our work to be collaborative with a view to addressing the issues that have brought clients to counselling and empowers them to look to working towards the goals that are important to them.
I have a consulting room/office based in Benfleet, Essex, from where I offer a confidential, safe, and supportive space. Here clients can explore their concerns, thoughts, and feelings. It provides the perfect setting to unpick “stuff” and associated behaviours, to work out where they come from and then go on to decide what is working and what might be worth changing. Establishing who we are and why we are the way we are is often the gateway to a deeper understanding of self.
Areas that I work with include but are not limited to:
I am very aware how daunting the thought of engaging in therapy is which is why I like to offer anyone considering choosing Tailored Therapy the opportunity to contact me to arrange an informal chat on the phone, (free of charge and with no obligation) where you can ask any questions you may have that might help you feel less anxious.
